So once we’d dropped off our luggage at the airport we got a JR day pass for the metropolitan area – bit like the London circle line round the city.

First stop the Ueno gardens – basically a city park with lots of shrines and temples some from 1600’s

 

 

 

 

And this is the pond – it took us ages to find it but not surprising as we were looking for water but it was completely full of lotus
